Equatorial Guinea is not a member of the International Whaling Commission, but it is a member/signatory to the following international or regional Conventions related to cetacean conservation:
- Convention on Migratory Species (since 2010)
- The Abidjan convention
- Memorandum of Understanding Concerning the Conservation of the Manatee and Small Cetaceans of Western Africa and Macaronesia
Confirmed observations
There are no known records of Sousa teuszii from Equatorial Guinea. It is not known whether this reflects a true gap in the species’ distribution, or whether the species is present but has not been reported due to lack of dedicated cetacean survey effort.
