The DRC is not a member of the International Whaling Commission, but it is a member/signatory to the following international or regional Conventions related to cetacean conservation:
- Convention on Migratory Species (since 1990)
- The Abidjan convention
Confirmed observations
There are no known records of Sousa teuszii from the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is not known whether this reflects a true gap in the species’ distribution, or whether the species is present but has not been reported due to lack of dedicated cetacean survey effort.
